One, Two and Three

I'm back!! I am in the swing again after many months of no posts. I guess painting had been occupying my time. 

At least I have been knitting.  I actually finished a gansey cardigan that I'm wearing now. 

I've also commenced working on some spindle spinning. As you can see the three steps are present. The spun singles, the center pull ball and the plied yarn. 

I made a red sweater!

It took some time but finally with a lot of changings my Sadie is finished. I like it even if it is a bit small. Welcome to visit my swedish blog or my part of Ravelry.

My lovely red Sadie cardigan is nearly finished. I only have to knit frontbands and sew collar on... Soon =)

The Ski Jacket is Finished

Yay, it's finally done. Full details are up on my blog, but here's how it turned out.


The eleventy million ends nearly did me in, but it was worth it. This is a warm and cozy sweater that is going to get a lot of wear.

The Endless Search

Did you ever notice that it's really hard to find the perfect red sweater? I love red, so I always keep my eye open when I'm out shopping. Sadly, none of the red sweaters I find are ever quite right. Perhaps I'm fussy? Regardless, this is one of the things I love about being a knitter. I don't have to search endlessly for the perfect red sweater, I can just make myself one! Of course, sometimes this turns into a search for the perfect red yarn, but that's another story.

My "happy" red ski jacket is zooming along, and the end is almost in sight. Here is a picture of the completed colourwork yoke.

Ski Jacket

Hi! I'm new to the KAL, but I love me a good red sweater so I look forward to seeing everyone's completed projects!

Surprisingly, even though red is one of my favourite colours, this is my first hand knitted red sweater. It's the Ski Jacket from Veronik Avery's "Knitting Classic Style", and I'm knitting it out of Lopi in "happy red".


This is my first colourwork project as well, and I've just reached the part of the yoke where the colour pattern begins. I'm very excited about this project, and I think the colours in the yoke will contrast very well with the red. If I can get this done soon, it will be perfect for cool spring evenings.

Kimono Red Vest

There was this pattern in the Rowan #8 Studio book that just really wanted to be knitted. But gray? I mean, really. Grey is such a nice colour but there was this lovely red Rowan Aran on the shelf.

I started in on Feb 22



Had it finished by 26 Feb 08

I left it home, blocking. Now all a need to do is find a really nice shawl pin.

It was a great change from all the socks (or my Viking Ship Sweater).

I guess I like Red Sweaters...

Well - the red version of the White Gansey is languishing unfinished in the knitting bag, but I have been busy as a bee on the Viridescent Diamond Cardigan - a Norah Gaughan pattern from an old Classic Elite book. I am doing it in Simply Shetland Lambswool and Cashmere in color Red Hot, which is a gorgeous rich red with a subtle tweedy look and feel. Yummy.

Red Sweater!

Hi - I'm new to the KAL. I've just started my red sweater, the Cinnabar Pullover by Kate Gilbert in Interweave Knits, Fall 2007. Karabella Margrite is the absolutely yummy yarn that was called for, and I decided to use it. I almost never do that, but this was too nice to pass up. I've actually started 2 red sweaters, but this is the first one that I'll finish. (The other is the popular "Urban Aran" in a superwash merino, claret color.) I will have more progress photos soon - I think this will be a relatively quick knit, but I have to finish DH's Christmas gift first! :)

david got a new christmas sweater . . . knit in briar rose charity, a 100% corriedale worsted weight yarn. it's soft and sturdy, just like him!

Tomato Progress

I have now removed the sleeves and am about to join the body to work in the round. I plan on knitting with the main color until just past the bust before doing the design.

New to the KAL

Hello all,

I ran across this KAL through RubysnPurls. I've been on a real red kick, so this is perfect! Here is my latest FO finished the Friday after Thanksgiving.



I'm currently working on Tomato. This is being done in a rich burgundy color. I hope to have progress pics soon.

One Year Later!

It took a year but it's finished and I'm pleased as can be with the results.



A bit of background since it's been so long in the making.
Yarn: Briar Rose Fibers Sonoma (This particular colorway is sold out) Chris donated this yarn for the first Red Letter Day here at the Red Sweater KAL. Chris sent two skeins with approximately 487 yds each in matching but different colorways. The yarns were alternated with every round. The sweater came down to the wire with the yarn, I really could have used about 10 more yards to tidy up along the neck. The second sleeve was moving right along when I read that seed stitch uses up a lot of yarn. If I'd known that sooner I wouldn't have put so much seed stitch in the pattern.

Pattern: Started out using the basic Pure & Simple pattern but quickly realized I wanted my own design. Which really isn’t something I advise a rank new sweater maker to undertake. With the exception of a newborn sweater I made for Faith about the time I received this yarn, I’d yet to knit a sweater. By the time I’d hit the area of joining the arms the pattern was discarded. Top down, knit in the round.

Needles: Jenkins US9 24″ Circulars
Project on Needles: 1 year

This sweater is super comfortable and the colors are great. (Second picture is truest colorwise.) This is a sweater that will be worn to death. :-)

A red Sadie

Now I've started my Sadie-knit. The yarn is lovely, soft and nice to knit. I look forward to be finished but I have a lot ongoing projects so it will maybe take some time.

I'm happy to be a member of Red Sweater KAL. I really love the color red and just for now I have two projects in red yarn.
1. A red moebius shawl in Garnstudio's Silke-Tweed and Vivaldi (mohair). I think I finish it tonight because it's not much left.




2. My next knit project is a Sadie cardigan in red Silky wool from Elsebeth Lavold.
